TESTIMONIALS

“In the winter of 2005, while planning a trip to Brazil, it was my good fortune to be directed to J. Carlos Desales (AmericasConnect)!  Carlos is an experienced guide with excellent connections in Brazil. Carlos was born in Brazil and raised in the United States; so of course he is able to switch easily from one language to the other. My family and I have now made numerous trips with Carlos. Carlos has always been able to secure the lodging, the food, and the sights we are most interested in. If a trip to see John of God is on your list you may be interested to know that Carlos is a certified guide, and son of the house at Abadiania where
the healer John of God works. The other guests in our posada (small hotel) all commented on our good fortune, and many have since engaged Carlos as guide for their own future trips to Abadiania. “

“My first vacation to Brazil was with Americas Connect in June of 2004.  I had always heard that Brazil was a wonderful country, with magnificent beaches and a population that lived from their hearts.  I was not disappointed.  I found a culture, rich with African heritage, and also encountered a land where I felt as if I was at home.  The people and environment are warm and welcoming.  I felt an immediate connection to my African heritage, and I enjoyed the best vacation of my life.  Prices are affordable, and the cuisine is excellent.  I would highly recommend that everyone experience Brazil for themselves, at least once in their lives.  Since my first trip, I have relocated to Brazil, and everyone who has visited me here has felt the same way.  Brazil is a must for anyone who is seeking a vacation to always remember. “
Louis K. Gladman – San Francisco/Salvador

“My experience with Carlos (Americas Connect) as a tour director was extraordinary.  He is skilled, professional and absolutely attentive to the end less detail and personal need of all those under his care.  For all this and his great kindness I will always be grateful.”
Gurudevi, Hari Om Tat Sat Hermitage – Sedona, Arizona

“My second trip to Brazil was with a group organized by AmericasConnect.  Since then, I have been to Brazil many times.  However, the trip with Carlos stands out as my most memorable time.  Since Carlos has lived in the US for many years and is a native Brazilian, he was able to meld our U.S. sensitivities with local culture and the wonders that Brazil offers, thus making for a truly remarkable experience. I am now in love with the country.  For this, I thank Carlos Desales.”
Thomas Wilson- New York, New York

“J. Carlos handles a tour with sensitivity, maturity and diplomacy!
The tours run smoothly with all the details handled. I couldn't imagine
the tour without him.”
Kimberly P. Curcio – McCayville, Georgia

“How wonderful and fun was the trip I planned with Carlos and members of a group called the Oakland Dinner Club. We spent several days in Rio and in Salvador, Bahia. I really enjoyed the beaches in Rio, and the cultural richness and heritage of Salvador. In Brazil I found the people to be friendly and food delicious. A beautiful country and a great vacation. A caring and knowledgeable tour guide made the trip that much better. Thanks Carlos!”
Michael Cohen – Oakland, California

“Went on a trip to Rio De Janeiro and Salvador Bahia Brazil in May and June of 2004 on a tour organized by J. Carlos DeSales for the Oakland Dinner Club. I had a marvelous time. The weather was spectacular. It was very comfortable and neither hot nor humid. Temperatures ranged from the mid- 70's to the low 80’s, which made for wonderful walks along the beaches of Rio de Janeiro and Salvador. Most every day I experienced spectacular sunshine and gentle ocean breezes.   During my trip, I found few crowds at popular spots like Sugar Loaf Mountain and the Street Fair at Ipanema Beach in Rio or at the Pelourinho in old downtown Salvador or inland at the Dannerman Cultural Center and Cigar Factory at Cachoeira and Sao Felix.  J. Carlos took my group inland to a restaurant/farm/resort at Santa Cruz atop a hill with a phenomenal view of the valley. While inland we also visited the home of one of Brazil’s top musical entertainers, Caetano Veloso. It was quite a rush meeting Caetano’s mom. She was a wonderful and very gracious lady.  Pride Celebration takes place in Salvador, Bahia during this time of year. I visited this fun and colorful celebration. I found the atmosphere to be friendly and exciting. Visiting the pride celebration is a must if you go to Salvador, Bahia in June.  Although there were occasional rain showers they did not dampen the wonderful experience I had in Brazil. I am looking forward to my next opportunity to visit Brazil.”
